PLEASE NOTE THAT DUE TO A SHORT TERM BACK INJURY I AM NOT TAKING ON ANY COMMISSIONS RIGHT NOW.
PLEASE DO FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME THOUGH, AS I MAY BE ABLE TO HELP YOU IN THE NEAR FUTURE
I create all my commission paintings in oil paint onto canvas. They are finished with a varnish to protect the paint. I paint onto box canvas which is usually around 1 inch deep, so there is no need to frame them (although you can of course have them framed if you wish)
I do receive a high amount of pet portrait commissions, however I do take all sorts of commissions on (based on my work shown in my website) so if you have something that you'd like put into paint, just let me know! I have put together the process below to show how easy it is to book a commission with me...
STEP ONE: Get in touch! Book your Pet Portrait or your Commission into my diary
Drop me a line on the contact form and we can get started!
STEP TWO: Find your favourite photos
The best photos are the ones that are of high quality, for example where you can clearly see your pet's eyes - the window to the soul...
STEP THREE: Choose the size of your picture....
PET PORTRAIT / COMMISSION PAINTING PRICES
12 x 16 inches (30 x 40cm) - Single Subject £260 plus postage (£10)
16 x 20 inches (40 x 50cm) - Single Subject £350 plus postage (£15)
50 x 60cm - Single Subject £450 plus postage (£18)
60 x 80cm £500 Postage £20
Extra Extra Large
100 x 75cam £650 Postage TBC
Please note that these sizes may need to be adjusted slightly due to availability of specific canvas sizes. If so, we can discuss this at the time of booking. also if you need a specific size, just let me know and we can find one to suit.
These prices are based on single subjects. For each additional subject please add £175. I would usually only add subjects to the large size as it tends to be too small to draw more than one on a smaller sized portrait. If you have any questions, just get in touch and I'll be happy to give you a quotation
Once I have your photos and you've decided on the size you would like, I'll confirm with you how I would like to create your painting. Backgrounds are usually painted with a plain neutral colour which is complementary to the subject. Additional background images will need to be discussed during this stage and may incur cost depending on the complexity, but this would be agreed up front. There are no hidden costs, don't worry.
We can also discuss when I intend to start working on your pet portrait or your commission painting, depending on my waiting list. I'll can also send you progress pictures if you would like.
I will usually post my completed picture on my Facebook page and on Instagram, but please let me know if it is a surprise for someone and I'll keep the finished picture a secret until you the portrait has been gifted.
I generally ask for a deposit against your order. See prices page for details
All will be sent via Royal Mail 'signed for' service. Price for postage is £10 for standard and £15 for larger size. Collection is available from my studio located to the north of Manchester.
Once started, I tend to try to complete portraits within a week or two. However, the nature of oil paints means that they are slow drying, so once completed, the painting will need to dry completely once it is varnished before I post it out to you. Collection is available (I am located to the north of Manchester)
What if you don't like your picture!
I really want you to love it... I always send a photo of your finished portrait to you before I post it. At that point, I'm happy to make small reasonable adjustments prior to posting it out to you. Once payment is made, I am unfortunately unable to offer a refund, as it is bespoke to you and your pet and cannot be sold elsewhere.
Hopefully you have been able to get an idea of my style of oil painting work from my website, so you have an indication of the type of picture you will expect. (Please note that pencil portraits are no longer available - the hours of sitting down to draw does not agree with my back...)
Any further questions, just let me know! Ready to book your Pet Portrait? Lets go!
